Psychological Association annual conference
Des
Moines, IA
Workshop
Description:
Didactic in nature, this workshop will include lecture, handouts,
PowerPoint slides, and interpretation of test profiles. Content of the
course is based on Theodore Millon’s comprehensive model of personality
and psychopathology, research findings, and 25 years of clinical
experience. The course will cover three content areas: (1) First, a
solid foundation for test interpretation is described through a synopsis
of Millon’s wide-reaching theoretical formulations. (2) A test
interpretation strategy will be offered that integrates Millon’s theory,
the new Grossman facet scales for the MCMI-III and Bariatric Norms for
the MBMD, a thorough understanding of base rate (BR) scores, the effects
of response style corrections on summary scores, and new research on how
to interpret low to moderate personality scale scores. (3) Finally, the
latest clinical and empirical research on how the measures perform in
special population will be presented, including information on gender
and ethnicity, the ability of the response style scales to detect
malingering, and use of the inventory with respondents who fall in gray
areas between normal and abnormal.
